Conner Gleissner
1. Share your recruiting story and status I started pretty early in the recruiting process, around 9th grade. I started with a huge list of 100 schools that I contacted. My grades were really good which gave me more opportunities. Interest started to pick up after the Junior Fall Classic in Arizona, but it was a slow process. I connected with Ryan Thompson over Twitter towards the end of my Junior year in high school and it turned out that he had gone to the same high school as me. After talking with Ryan, he was able to get me more focused on specific colleges he knew were looking for players like me. In the fall of my senior year, I went on several college visits and received a few offers, but I waited until after the Senior Fall Classic to decide. Going into the Senior Fall Classic I had a very good list of schools that I was able to target. After the classic I received a ton of interest and more offers, however, I ended up committing a week later to a school I had visited in the fall. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I am going to Cal State San Marcos. I chose this school because it was the perfect fit for me. I like the available options for majors, it’s in a great area and it has a baseball program that I believe I can contribute to and have success at. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? I came to SportsForce late in the process even though I had many relationships with coaches, I was not being actively recruited. SportsForce was able to give me a plan going into my senior year. The highlight videos they make using your game clips are a huge time saver. Ryan Thompson is a cool dude and he knows at what level you can play at, so listen to him. He has a lot of connections with college coaches and he reaches out to them for you if he thinks you would be a good fit. He gave me advice before I talked to coaches on the phone and before visits. He is really good at reminding you that there are options when you think there are none. He even worked with me on a throwing program I could use while also playing football. Recruiting is a ton of work so if you can get the help do it. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? The biggest advice I have is to figure out right away what level or levels you actually have a chance at playing at. This will save you a lot of time and money. Don’t go to showcases and camps unprepared. Start early because recruiting seems to be happening earlier every year. Always get game clips for highlight videos. Get on a team that you will have fun being around since you will be spending most of your summers playing ball. Get good grades. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I am really excited about heading off to college and playing more baseball. My family is happy they will be able to catch many games too. I feel pretty lucky right now! 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? My family will probably be saving $20-25,000. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would definitely recommend SportsForce and especially advisor Ryan Thompson to other athletes, even if you start late as I did. They have the extra connections with college coaches that will help you get noticed. It’s also nice to talk to people that know the process and know what you go through.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Justin Corliss on his commitment to the Point Loma Nazarene University. Here is Justin’s recruiting story told by his dad. Good luck as a Sea Lion! 1. Share your recruiting story and status. We were referred to SportsForce from a long-time hitting coach of Justin’s. After Paul looked at Justin and in talking with him, we found that SportsForce would be able to help get Justin’s name out there to many college coaches with the goal of getting him on a team based on their plan and knowledge. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Justin chose Point Loma in San Diego and he decided that was the right place for him as he made several visits to the college to talk with professors and other students. Justin felt a very close connection with the people, professors and what the school had to offer for him in academics and sports. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was able to contact the head coach at Point Loma several times to promote Justin and his skills. They knew Coach Jame very well and made several phone calls and emails to him to discuss what value that Justin would bring to the team. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Start the process early in High School and start off by visiting colleges that you are interested in. Look to see if the college offers a camp that you can attend as we felt this was a better way to showcase our son’s ability and was also able to talk with the coaches one-on-one. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? Justin is very excited about his future in both academics and athletics. He loves being part of a sports program that cares for their players, is looking to grow, and to be competitive. But also teaching him important lessons in life that will help him in his future. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? Justin didn’t get an athletic scholarship but is looking to work hard his first year and the goal would be to get something in his second year. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would recommend SportsForce as they have a good group of people that care about what they do and want to help further the players career in both academics and athletics. Everyone at SportsForce has extensive knowledge of the recruiting process and are willing to go above and beyond to help.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Cade Nicol on his commitment to Colorado Mesa University. Here are Cade’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Maverick!

1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I didn’t know what to expect going in, it was a little more of a roller-coaster ride than I anticipated though. We had a lot of college programs go through some significant coaching changes during the process. We signed with SportsForce in May of 2018. It took a little bit of time to piece my profile together as it was the end of the school year, but once we cleared a summer vacation and some West Ranch Summer baseball, we really got moving in late July 2018. I committed on April 10, 2019. The NLI came about a week later, is when it became official.

2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I have chosen Colorado Mesa. They had every box checked that was important to me. I wanted a school that was good at other sports, and where the student body had a lot of school spirit year-round. I also wanted a school that was not too big and not too small. Some of the schools that were recruiting me were about the same size as my high school. As far as baseball goes, they have a coaching staff that has been there for a long time and have had great success. After experiencing the coaching carousel of college baseball, this really moved up on my list of importance. They also have a great fan base and support and play in one of the best college baseball stadiums.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?
Ryan (Thompson) helped with so many things, answering questions about what college coaches were saying or not saying. Constantly giving advice, and helping mapping out strategies. Calming us down when college coaches kind of go in recruiting hibernation. Also, helping us save a ton of money by knowing which showcases to attend or not attend. Thank you to the people at SportsForce with getting my videos together and posting them up on YouTube and my profile.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
I would say, from what we learned, to start early if you can. I didn’t start until after my junior year. Also, learning how to put together effective videos together with good camera angles is a huge plus that we found. Coaches can’t always see you play live, they want video. Besides the 4 videos that SportsForce helped me put together, Colorado Mesa wanted a video after each outing that I had. I think we sent them 7 additional videos. Also, be patient and lean on your advisor, there are things that come up from college coaches that can be tricky to navigate. Having someone like Ryan Thompson and utilizing his experience throughout the process really helped balance everything.

5. How excited are you about your future in college?
Very excited, I can’t wait to be a part of the Colorado Mesa baseball team and contribute to hopefully reach and win a College World Series.

6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses?
We saved $15,300 per year with everything added up

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
We already have, we have told several teammates and families from other schools, that there is no comparison to the other “recruiting services” out there. Having someone like Ryan was the key. Someone that has the college coaches’ ear, and when they tell a coach they need to look at this player, they do. I received a lot of calls right after Ryan reached out to them. Colorado Mesa coach told me that right up front, that he was calling me because of what Ryan Thompson said about me.

We would like to congratulate Justin Campos on his commitment to Hawaii Pacific University. Here are Justin’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Shark! (Questions answered by Jill Campos, Justin’s Mom) 1. Share your recruiting story and status! I started really getting interested in the recruiting process the summer before Justin’s Junior year. I (Jill-mom) did most of the recruiting and reaching out to colleges Justin was interested in attending and send our consolidated baseball videos. I went to lots of baseball camps and school visits searching for the right environment for Justin academically and for baseball. Meet with Coach Ryan Thompson based on a referral from the Rons family and signed up for the recruiting process and switched teams to TB SoCal. We decided that it was too stressful to take on the process ourselves and took a lot of time so let’s let the professionals handle it. Through Ryan, Justin received a ton of interest and ultimately committed to Hawaii Pacific University on April 7th after receiving a very generous offer letter from Coach Correa on March 22nd. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Hawaii Pacific. The school has a great business program, the coach is young and full of innovated ideas/coaching style and ultimately Justin already felt like family. The coaching staff and players were very welcoming to Justin. Justin was looking for a program where it felt like one big family. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? Coach Correa reaches out to Ryan and indicated to him what he was looking for and Ryan indicates to him that he had the perfect player that would fill a void on his team and would be a perfect fit. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Trust the process and get a video. Justin used to tell me that all the time and I hated it. He was right. The right school at the right time will come along. Ryan knows his stuff–– and cares about his athletes. He takes the time to know his players/athletes intimately (athletically and academically) so he can fit you with the right college. He will not place you with the wrong college ever and he will always be honest. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? Very. I have found a home where I can excel academically and on the baseball field. Plus I get to experience new adventures in Hawaii. 6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses? $104,000 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? Yes, for the reasons mentioned above.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Ryan Novis on his commitment to St. Mary’s College. Here are Ryan’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Gael

1. Share your recruiting story and status!
We started the recruiting process late but didn’t know it. At first we didn’t think we needed help, but after a while what we were hearing from recruiters, schools, and showcases did not add up. Everyone was very positive, and despite our son’s many accolades (All District, All State, Junior All American) our communication with the colleges seemed to stall. We sought out Andrew and his team at SportsForce and they had an immediate impact for us. They helped us move beyond the marketing hype and wishful thinking and were able to give us real information we could act on, even when we didn’t want to hear it.
They were always honest and supportive, a tough combination.
With their help, we reworked Ryan’s profile and videos (never underestimate how important this is!) and they could tell us who was really interested in Ryan and who was trying to collect a fee for a camp. Being recruited is a highly competitive process, especially on the west coast where the number of talented athletes outnumbers the available scholarship opportunities nearly five to one.
The process starts earlier and earlier, and is more competitive in every way. To be honest, I am not sure how the Coaches themselves manage to navigate this process. It’s challenging for everyone, but Andrew and his team helped us get a handle on it, helped us put together a real plan we could act on, and they supported us through our efforts. In the end, the offers started to come and when the right school offered Ryan, everyone in the family was informed enough to know that it was the right offer.
In the end we feel incredibly blessed because Ryan found exactly the right opportunity, at the right school for him and we could not be happier. I do not believe this would have been possible without the help of the Sportsforce team.

2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
Ryan is going to St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. Ryan selected St. Mary’s because it had the best of all the factors that mattered the most to him. They are a division 1 school that competes in the West Coast Conference. They need players in Ryan’s position – outfield, and the school is well known for its academics. As a final bonus it is located in Northern California, a beautiful part of the country.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?
1) Advice – Andrew provided excellent and honest assessments
2) Programs – the email template, campaigns and tracking sheets made things much more manageable
3) Q&A – They helped us prepare for conversations with coaches and campus visit
4) Video editing – they took our raw footage and dramatically improved the presentation
5) Insight – The events we attended that were recommended by the SportsForce team lead to real recruiting conversations.
6) Encouragement – It can be a long frustrating process and SportsForce was always supportive and encouraging.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
There are a lot of people who are happy to sell you what you want to hear. In my business I work with many advisors, some of them earning many hundreds of dollars per hour and they are well worth it because of the trouble they save me. Once I realized that Andrew and his team were much they same, their value became obvious. Get with their program and follow it. Early. If your son (or daughter) really does have what it takes to play at the next level, having a solid recruiting advisor in my opinion makes that process easier to navigate.

5. How excited are you abou your future in college?
He is extremely excited about his future in college as is the whole family.

6. How much money do you anticipate your family saving in college expenses?
We will have saved about $100,000 due to the athletic scholarship money.

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
I would absolutely recommend SportsForce for all the reasons I have mentioned above.

Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Shane Telfer on his commitment to Pepperdine University. Here are Shane’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Wave! 1. Share your recruiting story and status! The recruiting process was, at first, pretty difficult for me, I struggled to throw harder and wasn’t getting as many looks as I wanted. I finally made a lot of improvements early in my senior year, and Pepperdine saw me pitch multiple times at the senior fall classic in Arizona. After that, I had many phone calls with Pepperdine and ended up committing early in November, 3 days before signing day. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I will be playing baseball at Pepperdine University. I chose this school because I fell in love with the religious atmosphere and the great community. The academic support they provide will give me great opportunities to succeed in the classroom, and the baseball coaches are very knowledgeable. I know they will make me a better pitcher, teammate, and person. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was a big help throughout the recruiting process by streamlining my communication with coaches and providing me with video content of myself. They also provided a platform in order to gain more exposure to more schools. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I would say to younger athletes in the high school process, work as hard as possible on improving your individual skills and mechanics before showcasing yourself at bigger events. It is worth it, in the long run, to take more time before getting exposure if it means you will be better later on. Never stop grinding. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I couldn’t be more excited to continue my baseball career at Pepperdine as well as further my education. It is a great opportunity to grow in many areas. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? My family will hopefully be saving at least $10,000 in costs from academic money and hopefully at least an additional $15,000 from athletic scholarships after my freshman year. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would definitely recommend SportsForce to other high school student-athletes. They are great people who are easy to work with and provided me with so many tools which I used to my advantage in the recruiting process. Reaching out to coaches also was a breeze. Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball: We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Jimmy Hebenstreit on his commitment to the US Air Force Academy! Here are Jimmy’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Falcon!
1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I started the recruiting process going into my Sophomore yr of High School. I got a lot of interest from schools in the Summer going into my Sophomore yr and signed up with SportsForce the Spring of my Sophomore year while playing Varsity for my High School. I verbally committed on Sept 6th of my JR year to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I chose the AFA for many reasons. After my visit, I could not see myself going anywhere else. The number one question you need to ask yourself when choosing a school is “Would I still want to be here if Baseball does not work out?” And the answer for me was YES. I loved everything about the Academy and what it had to offer, there is no other school like it anywhere in the world. Overall, I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself and the Academy offered that. The opportunities at the Academy are endless! 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was great in that they gave me the time frame and platform of when and how to reach out to coaches. They also helped me create an expanded list of target schools I otherwise would not have known about. I also feel that my profile page and Highlight Video that they created helped with my exposure. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Don’t get wrapped up thinking “I only want D1”, be open to all schools and at all levels. Coaches change schools all of the time and you never know where they are going to end up or who they know or talk too. Ultimately, you just need to just find the right fit and you won’t know until you go and visit that school and speak to the coaches. Also focus on your grades early! The #1 question coaches will ask is what is your GPA? 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I could not be more excited for what my future holds. Being a Colorado kid and being exposed to the Academy my entire life also the fact that my Grandfather was a ’68 Academy grad I only dreamed that one day I would get this opportunity and now I feel like I am living a dream. 6. Alex Schrier We would like to congratulate Alex Schrier on his commitment to UC Santa Barbara! Here are Alex’ recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Gaucho!
1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I wasn’t very high on any coaches’ radar or got anything easily. I’d be doing really well and still not get any attention from schools, but my coaches just told me it will come. So I waited and this past summer (going into senior year) coaches started noticing my progression and I got a few offers and was extremely happy to get to commit to my dream school UCSB.
2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I chose UCSB because the location is close to home and it’s right on the beach, it is an extremely good school, and the coaching staff and baseball program will be able to develop me into a better player and person. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce helped me understand how it works and how grades are important when looking at schools that you want to pursue. SportsForce also helped me put together a good video to send out to my target schools. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I’d say to start early and have patience if you continue working and getting better, you will get noticed. 5. How excited are you about your future in college? Extremely excited about being able to go to school right near the beach and play baseball every day and see how much better I can get moving forward.

Adam Pahos We would like to congratulate Adam Pahos on his commitment to Southeastern Community College! Here are Adam’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Blackhawk!
1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I started my journey in early 2017, we didn’t have much knowledge of the college system and how to reach out to college coaches and get the process started. The process is shorter than we first expected, we thought we would have to commit to a school before the new year which we now know isn’t the case. I committed to my school on 4/17/2018.
2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I will be going to Southeastern Community College in Iowa. I chose them because they have other Aussies players there, and they all had very positive feedback about the school and baseball program 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce helped by giving us the tools to be able to reach numerous college coaches in the United States, despite being from Australia. They helped put together a good highlight video and quality advice on how to email and talk to the coaches. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Start the process early so you aren’t in a big rush to find a place. Start collecting lots of game footage as well as training footage that will help show off your skill set. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I am very excited to go to college, it has been a dream of mine ever since I found out about college baseball in America and am very excited to start this new chapter in my life.
6. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
I would recommend SportsForce to any other student-athlete because they are very knowledgeable in the college scene, were easily accessible to talk to at any time and make the search for a college very easy.

Maeve Hungerford

We would like to congratulate Maeve Hungerford on her commitment to Colorado Mesa University! Here are Maeve’s recruiting story and interview after her commitment. Good luck as a Maverick!

1. Share your recruiting story and status

I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college early on. It is an intimidating process and despite all the camps, club, and tournaments I had no idea where I wanted to go to college, what constituted a “good fit”, or what I should be looking at with regards to lacrosse programs. My dad would talk to me about colleges, towns, or coaches and I just didn’t fully understand what he was talking about. After joining SportsForce in 9th grade, Coach Andrea Ervay was assigned to me as my mentor. We would talk by phone every few months and she would ask about my grades, how lacrosse was going and helped keep me on track. The one thing both Coach Ervay and my dad said was grades came first and lacrosse comes after. I definitely stalled out in my process during junior year. It was hard enough trying to handle school and lacrosse and I didn’t want to think about college yet. However, being with SportsForce helped as all communication that was or wasn’t doing was in a central place and easy to keep track of. Summer after my junior year, my dad helped me narrow down my options and then we visited campuses and met with coaches. While I hate to admit it, my dad was right in that going to the campuses was the most helpful thing in my recruiting process. There were quite a few D2 and D3 coaches that were interested and the websites for all the schools made them all look awesome. However, I didn’t realize how truly far away, or how I would feel on campus, the size of school I was looking for, and the geographic location until I got on campus. Visiting the schools really helped and I was able to rank them better after getting offers and an idea of location, cost, and lacrosse program. I was really surprised at the results. A few schools I had thought I really would like, I didn’t, and a few that I didn’t think I would like at all, ended up enjoying them. Ultimately I narrowed everything down and when I was offered by an in-state school (which I had always thought I wanted to go out of state) that I really liked the lacrosse coach and location/cost, it was an easy decision. If I hadn’t made all those visits, I think I might have made some choices I would regret.

2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?

I will be attending and playing at Colorado Mesa University (DII) in the RMAC. Ultimately I decided to become a Maverick because the campus was beautiful, it had all the academic programs I needed and wanted, the facilities are unreal, and I really liked the lacrosse coach. Also, as I said before, I thought I wanted to go out of state, but everything seemed really far away when it got down to it. CMU is close enough to access my parents and friends in Denver but far enough away they won’t be randomly knocking on my dorm door.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?

SportsForce helped in many ways. For me, the constant reminder to fill out my contact sheet, the accountability knowing that I had to schedule a talk with Coach Ervay from time to time, and the ability to have all my recruiting stuff in one place ended up being crucial. My dad says that for him as a parent, it was really nice to deal with Darrell (Client Services) and Coach Ervay as his only contacts, that the site was easy to use and update, and that he only had to pay once for four years of ongoing help. The database of schools, coaches, and contact information ended up being really helpful. I didn’t realize this until some of my teammates started trying to get recruited and I realized what a struggle getting a film, making contact with coaches, and then keeping all that straight was. SportsForce truly made all that easy.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?

I would say that getting good footage of your play is key. Also, after meeting with many coaches during this process, I found that they don’t always want to see your best plays, they want to see everything. If you start using film from 9th grade and as a sophomore, you improved, it is ok to show how something wasn’t awesome but now it is. The coaches mentioned they like to see coachability and progress more than your most awesome plays (include those of course), or something where you made a mistake but showed hustle to get the ball back (the words tenacity, speed, and attitude come up a lot).

My dad wanted me to be sure and mention that campus visits and patience were what helped most as a parent. I know he was frustrated with me but was kind enough to let me figure stuff out on my own to some degree. The visits helped because I really got a feel right away whether I liked the college or not. I talked to a lot of coaches on the phone and the campuses always sound awesome, but until I got there I knew pretty quickly whether it would make my short list or whether I wasn’t interested anymore.

#1 piece of advice….. KEEP YOUR GRADES UP. It turns out both colleges and coaches want to know about those first before you even start talking about lacrosse. Also, so many avenues open up for financial help when your GPA is as high as you can keep it and you do well on the SAT/ACT. It makes coaches much more interested because as one coach told me “it shows you are serious about coming here for all 4 years and that you have the chops to succeed”.

5. How excited are you about your future in college?

I am really excited to start college and get to play lacrosse too. I think I took a long time to commit/sign but I think I found a really good fit, one that I will be successful at academically and enjoy playing lacrosse.

6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career?

Over the 4 years, it likely will add up to about 40k.

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?

My family would absolutely recommend SportsForce to other student-athletes. By starting with them early in 9th grade, the cost was essentially for 4 years of service rather than a blitz right at the end of high school. Also, while I did ultimately want a scholarship for athletics, SportsForce provided another outside source of motivation and accountability that helped me stay on top of my grades and ultimately receive scholarship money for my academics as well. There is no way I or my parents could have done all the research and communications with the effectiveness or ease that SportsForce provides. Darrell and Coach Ervay were patient and understanding, as well as very attentive whenever we needed something i.e. game footage compilations, questions about NCAA rules and how to get a number, as well as keeping the communications list up to date.

Over the last six years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $50,000 in college expenses.
