1. Share your recruiting story and status!
I started the recruiting process going into my Sophomore yr of High School. I got a lot of interest from schools in the Summer going into my Sophomore yr and signed up with SportsForce the Spring of my Sophomore year while playing Varsity for my High School. I verbally committed on Sept 6th of my JR year to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I chose the AFA for many reasons. After my visit, I could not see myself going anywhere else. The number one question you need to ask yourself when choosing a school is “Would I still want to be here if Baseball does not work out?” And the answer for me was YES. I loved everything about the Academy and what it had to offer, there is no other school like it anywhere in the world. Overall, I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself and the Academy offered that. The opportunities at the Academy are endless! 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was great in that they gave me the time frame and platform of when and how to reach out to coaches. They also helped me create an expanded list of target schools I otherwise would not have known about. I also feel that my profile page and Highlight Video that they created helped with my exposure. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Don’t get wrapped up thinking “I only want D1”, be open to all schools and at all levels. Coaches change schools all of the time and you never know where they are going to end up or who they know or talk too. Ultimately, you just need to just find the right fit and you won’t know until you go and visit that school and speak to the coaches. Also focus on your grades early! The #1 question coaches will ask is what is your GPA? 5. How excited are you about your future in college? I could not be more excited for what my future holds. Being a Colorado kid and being exposed to the Academy my entire life also the fact that my Grandfather was a ’68 Academy grad I only dreamed that one day I would get this opportunity and now I feel like I am living a dream. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? $500K (They say when you go to the Academy its a Free 1/2 Million dollar education, everything is paid for and in fact, they pay you while you go there). 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Yes, Tony and Andrew’s knowledge, experience as well as connections with various college coaches throughout the country is priceless!
