We would like to congratulate Shane Telfer on his commitment to Pepperdine University. Here are Shane’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Wave!

1. Share your recruiting story and status!
The recruiting process was, at first, pretty difficult for me, I struggled to throw harder and wasn’t getting as many looks as I wanted. I finally made a lot of improvements early in my senior year, and Pepperdine saw me pitch multiple times at the senior fall classic in Arizona. After that, I had many phone calls with Pepperdine and ended up committing early in November, 3 days before signing day.

2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them?
I will be playing baseball at Pepperdine University. I chose this school because I fell in love with the religious atmosphere and the great community. The academic support they provide will give me great opportunities to succeed in the classroom, and the baseball coaches are very knowledgeable. I know they will make me a better pitcher, teammate, and person.

3. How did SportsForce help in the process?

SportsForce was a big help throughout the recruiting process by streamlining my communication with coaches and providing me with video content of myself. They also provided a platform in order to gain more exposure to more schools.

4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process?
I would say to younger athletes in the high school process, work as hard as possible on improving your individual skills and mechanics before showcasing yourself at bigger events. It is worth it, in the long run, to take more time before getting exposure if it means you will be better later on. Never stop grinding.

5. How excited are you about your future in college?
I couldn’t be more excited to continue my baseball career at Pepperdine as well as further my education. It is a great opportunity to grow in many
areas.

6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career?
My family will hopefully be saving at least $10,000 in costs from academic money and hopefully at least an additional $15,000 from athletic scholarships after my freshman year.

7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why?
I would definitely recommend SportsForce to other high school student-athletes. They are great people who are easy to work with and provided me with so many tools which I used to my advantage in the recruiting process. Reaching out to coaches also was a breeze.

Over the last 10 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $80,000 in college expenses.
