We would like to congratulate David Pagan on his commitment to Wharton County Community College. Here is David’s recruiting story. Good luck as a Pioneer!

Answers provided from Dom Ramos; David’s SportsForce Expert Advisor.

Why was the student-athlete motivated to play baseball in college?

David was a natural on the field. His Puerto Rican roots helped him grow a love for the game and learn from some of the best baseball players and men in the Houston area. He became a very strong defender behind the plate and a very smart player overall.

When did he start with SportsForce, why and how?

I coached David in 2014 and 2015 when I was finishing up my career as a professional. I came home for a couple of years back to central Texas and began helping players with their college recruiting at the end of 2017. While conducting research on players in Texas I came across David. I remembered him and reached out to him. He and his family were very excited to hear from me and we were able to connect immediately. David was going into the summer before his senior year and was unsure where he would land. I believed in his ability and they believed I could help so we began the journey.

What was the recruiting process like prior to SportsForce?

David had a little experience with NCSA and other recruiting teams but they did not help. Instead, they felt they had been taken advantage of.

What challenges did he face?

David is a smaller catcher so he had to stand out in a special way to be recognized or given a chance.

How many schools were interested before SportsForce?

David had no real interest at all from schools.

What was the plan of action that SportsForce helped him develop?

We watched him through his travel summer and emailed coaches and teams ahead of the schedule letting them know he would be around their part of town. We talked about which showcases and camps to attend and began the email campaigns.

How many colleges did SportsForce contact about Pagan?

We contacted over 50 schools for David.

How many/what events did he attend with SportsForce’s guidance?

I do not remember the amount of events we helped David pick to attend but do know how his initial workout for Wharton emerged. I asked a former coach at Texas State to pass along to other coaches that I had a talented catcher to share with someone. Wharton called. He showed up for a workout and they offered him a partial scholarship.

Over the last 12 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $80,000 in college expenses.

Why SportsForce is Different:

* View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs.  Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors

We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers.

Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches.
