We would like to congratulate David Newbanks on his commitment to Hanover College. Here is David’s recruiting story. Good luck as a Panther!

Answers provided from Dan Thurston; David’s SportsForce Expert Advisor.

When did he know he wanted to play baseball in college?

Based on the information that I have on David Newbanks, he has wanted to play college baseball since he was a youth player.

When did he start with SportsForce, why and how?

David started with SportsForce on May 26, 2020.  He was referred to me (National Scout for SportsForce) from one of his high school coaches and a travel coach.  He needed marketing and exposure to collegiate coaches.

What was the recruiting process like prior to SportsForce?

We developed a target list of schools for David that included 63 schools in the area from the D1 level to the D3/NAIA level.  I made personal phone calls to college coaches about David.  David went on at least two unofficial visits.  He made his commitment to a D3 school here in Indiana.

What challenges did he face?

I think the biggest hurdle David faced is what most college prospects face.  “Am I really a potential player and what level?”  Once that question is answered, what is the best way to get my name and profile out there.  SportsForce is the best in the business at doing just that.

How many schools were interested both before and after SportsForce?

I am not sure David had really heard from any colleges before joining SportsForce.  After joining SportsForce and after our email campaign and my phone calls, there were 5-8 schools interested in learning more about him.

What was the plan of action that SportsForce helped him develop?

First, we helped him develop a list of schools where David might be able to play.  That allowed David and his family to begin researching these schools to see what might be the best fit for him based on educational goals, family goals and their financial situation.  Then we sent out an email marketing campaign to the schools on his target list.  His advisor made personal phone calls to several college coaches on his behalf.  I helped prepare him for his visits on what to ask and how to ask.   Also we talked about what the coaches would be asking him.  From there, I just acted as an advisor to be there for him to answer questions and walk him through the process.

How many colleges did SportsForce contact about Newbanks?

The 63 schools that were on his initial target list.

How many/what events did he attend with SportsForce’s guidance?

I believe he attended one PBR Event that I knew would help him.  He was planning to attend a college camp until he made his commitment to another school before that camp.

Over the last 12 years, SportsForce has helped over 1,000 student-athletes and families successfully navigate the college recruiting and athletic scholarship process while saving families on average $80,000 in college expenses.

Why SportsForce is Different:

* View our Home Page Video Unlike most recruiting companies, we do not just partner with anyone for our hands-on recruiting programs.  Instead, we only partner with qualified players who meet our Five academic, athletic, and coachability selection factors

We evaluate between 10,000-12,000 players each summer and fall at top showcases and selectively advise, and advocate for only a limited number of players each year by directly contacting college coaches to help them maximize recruiting offers.

Each of our expert college recruiters is limited to how many players they will advise so there is the best combination of hands-on guidance and personal recruiting outreach to college coaches.
