Scott grew up in Redondo Beach, Ca. where he earned 3 varsity letters in both football and baseball for Redondo Union High School. In baseball, he was selected to all-league honors 3 years in a row topped of with earning Ocean league MVP his and was selected as 1st team pitcher in CIF southern section his senior season. After not being heavily recruited from local colleges (including having an uncle as the pitching coach at UCLA at the time) Scott went on to play college baseball at the University of Nevada Reno. He played 3 summers in the Northwoods League, 1 with Waterloo Bucks and 2 season with Rochester Honkers. In his final season he was selected to the all-star team, set the record for strike outs in a game (13, twice) and strike outs in a season with 104 (which has since been broken). Scott was named to the Northwoods League All Decade team and was on two championships teams (Waterloo '96, Rochester '97) and runner up (Rochester '98). He was awarded 2nd team All-Big West Conference after his senior season at Nevada.
Scott went undrafted after his senior season at Nevada and signed with the Montreal Expos as a non-drafted free agent, making it to AA Harrisburg before getting released. He finished his professional career with the St. Paul Saints for two seasons.
Once he moved to Texas, he continued to coach baseball with travel teams and working with players individually. Having a daughter who will be a Freshman in high school, who plays court and beach volleyball, Scott will have an understanding of the parents side of the recruiting process to compliment his experience with the player and coach side of the process.
