Recommendation: 2016 was my first season as the Head Baseball Coach at West Morris Central. Based on the obvious physical and mental advantages a 17 year old has on a 14 year old, I believe in playing upperclassmen on varsity teams. Juniors and Seniors with the possibility of a Sophomore make up my ideal roster.

In my first season I went against that theory. During the 2016 preseason we had a glaring hole at shortstop, we tried all of our upperclassmen and none had the athleticism or baseball IQ to play the position. Our last option was to giving a freshman, Aidan Healy, a shot. After one scrimmage it was obvious who the best athlete on the team was. After the second scrimmage it was obvious who the player with the highest baseball IQ was.

Aidan has a strong physical skill set; he has great actions, he’s a plus runner, he has a plus arm, he has explosive bat speed with power potential but his two most valuable characteristics are his baseball IQ and he is an outstanding teammate. He earned the respect of his coaches and teammates by carrying himself the right way on and off the field. Aidan has a big future ahead of him.

Recommendation: I find myself extremely proud to be recommending Aidan Healy to any colleges looking to add a true baseball player to their program. Having been his coach from a young age in travel baseball, I can only say that Aidan has been among some of the most remarkable players I have come across. His educational and athletic achievements are just starting to strive, but I would like to familiarize you with what I have learned about him in these 5 years that I have known him.

Apart from being a great athlete and ballplayer, Aidan has this commendable talent to lead others and set an example for all to follow. He is deeply committed to hard work and succeeding in which this quality was clear when he lead our team to many tournament championships over the years.

At the age of 10 years old, I already saw qualities in him that I knew would someday lead to the success he has had on and off of the baseball field. He has been one of the brightest players we have ever coached along with one of the toughest both mentally and physically. His ability to fail and quickly overcome to succeed, is a trait that coaches cannot teach.

He has done us all at the Morris County Cubs baseball program very proud.
