Personal Statement: Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard.
Favorite Athlete(s) and why?: David Ortiz because he gives back so much to his community and works extremely hard. Mike Trout because he works hard and plays with fire. Pedro Martinez because he is the ultimate competitor and he had an attitude that his game could back. Joel Tudor because he is an incredible surfer, he makes everything look effortless.
Other activites and interests: Surfing, diving, swimming, sculpture (Wheel Throwing), baseball, screen printing.
Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: The biggest influence on my athletic career has to have been my coach in seventh through eighth grade, Brad Marcelino (USD Ass. Coach). We had meetings at the end of the season before high school and he told me that I was the hardest worker and that it would pay off. He told me to keep my head down and continue working. He saw potential in me and gave me the stepping stone of confidence I needed to keep on establishing myself and my game. He helped me establish my work ethic.
About Me: I am currently in high school playing varsity level baseball. I love going to the beach and working at the local surf shop Hansen's. I really got into sculpture freshman year and have taken it every year of high school so far. I enjoy being creative while I also love to be outdoors. I get the most joy out of competing and I love the game of baseball. It is so complex and it requires a lot of mental toughness. I work very hard during the season and off season to ready myself for game situations and overall make myself better. I also am not a fan of social media so I do not have one.
