Recommendation: Owen is coming in to his 3rd year as a varsity outfielder for me at Carlsbad High School. His physical make up sets him apart from most high school baseball athletes and projects him as a D1 prospect. Defensively he covers a ton of ground in the outfield. Gets plus reads and jumps, runs a 6.75 60 yard and tops at 83 mph from the outfield. Offensively Owen has big time pop, finds the barrel often and his speed plays on the base paths.

As a student athlete Owen is very good in the classroom as he carries a 3.43 GPA. As a player he is very coachable, takes well to direction and asks questions when he thinks he can improve. He has become a leader amongst our team in the weight room, during practice and on game days. He’s punctual, communicates with the coaching staff and prides himself on being a good teammate. Owen is highly competitive and I’m confident he will succeed in any program at the next level. After three years of watching him work, I’d put my name on him confidently for any level beyond high school.

There are numerous positive qualities that define him as a person on and off the field. Over the years, I have personally witnessed Owen demonstrate an incredible level of strength both physically and mentally. This is an important quality to have as a young man playing at a collegiate level. I assure you, that if you chose Owen Dargie to be apart of your baseball program, he will quickly prove what a valuable asset he is to the organization and to the team. Not only will he be a responsible player who looks forward to training in the gym, cage time, throw, field, and agility, but he will also prove his academic commitment. His determination, willingness to learn, motivation, and positive mindset are unmatched.

I have coached Owen in his youth days and most recently in a competitive 18U program where he was one of my top offensive players. He continued to grow as a defensive outfielder as well as on the bases where he utilized his speed. Owen humbly stands at 6’4” and weighs 216 pounds. His quick, strong hands and “6.76 60yard dash” will allow him to be an incredible baseball player for your program. Within my coaching experience, I believe I’ve gained the knowledge to understand what it is you are looking for in a student-athlete. Without any doubt, Owen Dargie is your choice!
