My name is Chad Thornhill, Head Coach Bullard Baseball ’05-18. I retired at the end of last season, but am still helping our current Bullard players. I am writing to you regarding one of my players, Nilen Peoples. In his sophomore season, Nilen led the team in hitting and has never looked back. A 6’1 185 lb., left-handed hitting outfielder has gap-to-gap power and incredible bunting skills. His foot speed has continued to develop with his physicality, now running 60s consistently in the high 6’s. His glove and arm are both solid 3+ / 4 on a 5 scale. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be an excellent addition to any program. He is extremely coachable and relentless in the weight room. He has found his voice as a leader and exhibits the same qualities through his actions as well. He has garnered interest from a number of Division 1 programs, but has yet to make a decision. As coach and former player, I think Nilen would be a great addition to any college team that gave him a shot. Not many kids pay attention to the details of the game but Nilen is not one of them. Since I started coaching him I could always tell he was one step ahead of the rest and I attribute that to his preparation during practice. I fondly remember him always honing his skills even when others were taking a breather. His work ethic is top notch and he's willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. He's a combination of size, speed, power, athleticism and room to grow into more. Great attitude, respectful, well mannered. It was my pleasure to coach Nilen as I know he is going to go on to have great success at the next level all he needs is a chance to prove himself.
