PERSONAL STATEMENT
For as long as I can remember, I have loved the game of baseball. I have played every season possible since 4 years old. I also played Football and Basketball through Middle School. I love to compete and work as hard as I possibly can to improve physically and mentally. My goal is to play the game of baseball as long as I possibly can. I am dedicated to put in the time and effort in to help my team in every way possible. I don’t just want to make myself better, I want to make everyone around me better as well. I work every day to be the best person I can be on and off the field.

Recommendation: Coaching Matt over the last 4 seasons I have continued to watch him grow as a ballplayer. On the field and in the dugout he is a vocal leader who is respected by his peers. He is a coachable athlete who gives everything he has whether it's practice or game. At the plate he has hit in the 2 hole for us because of his ability to handle the bat and move runners and he excels at driving the ball the other way. At second base he is a solid fielder who attacks the baseball.

Offensively he is a good contact hitter who has a real knack for coming through in the clutch. Recommendation: I wanted to briefly highlight the baseball IQ of 2022 middle infielder Matthew Olson. I have coached "Matty O", since his freshman year of High School and have witnessed his clutch contributions on numerous occasions.

Matthew doesn't shy away from big moments. He always seems to be at bat during game-changing moments providing me with an insane amount of confidence as his coach when he prepares to produce for his team.

Matthew Olson is a winner. He competes, learns, trains, lifts, and is growing as a leader within our program. Matty is someone you want on your club. He is never afraid to lay down a sacrifice bunt, or drive a ball into the gap when we are down by one run in the bottom of the 7th and he represents the tying run.

Matthew is a student of the game, and committed to becoming a complete ballplayer. Recently, Matthew was honored as a first team All Region infielder as well as an All State Honorable Mention performer. This is significant for any ballplayer, but especially a Junior.
