Recommendation: My name is Jeff Pentland. I’ve been a hitting coach for over 45 years, the last 17 of those years were in the major leagues. I have been working with Landry for the last 3 years, starting year 2017, which was one year before becoming a freshman at Red Mountain high school.

I believe Landry will be an above average college hitter with well above average power. His hitting progression has been on point, with well above average improvement in all phases of hitting. He has improved, every year, in pitch recognition as well as strike zone discipline.

Landry greatest asset as a hitter is his easy power to all fields, especially his opposite field power. He also hits for average with well above average plate discipline at his stage of his baseball career. Landry’s approach as a hitter is through the center of the diamond with the ability to hit the ball where it is pitched.

Landry works very hard on developing his hitting skills by consistently working tirelessly at practice on the field as well as in the batting tunnel. He works religiously on the hitting drills I have given him and masters those drills quickly.
His sequencing is outstanding with excellent eye hand coordination. He is very athletic with a burning desire to be the best hitter possible.

Landry is an outstanding person with great respect for his family and his teachers. He also has leadership qualities with outstanding goals for life as well as his baseball career. He is a can’t miss at any university as an outstanding player and student.
These are tough times for all, especially for young people who trying to show their capabilities as student athletes. It’s extremely difficult when the player can’t compete on the playing field.

Trust me Landry Spitler is the real deal both on and off the field.

Please contact me if I can help in anyway. Thank you.

Title: Former Head Baseball Coach / Chemistry Teache

Recommendation: It is a pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Landry Spitler. I had the opportunity to first get to know Landry during the spring of 2019, when he first came to our baseball program and later as his Chemistry Teacher. During his freshman high school baseball season, Landry played for the Junior Varsity baseball team and did an outstanding job. Landry showed his baseball ability when he played against players older than him. His talents showed through by hitting position third in the batting order. Landry accepted the responsibility of hitting in one of the most important places in the line-up; a role he did not take lightly.

With this said, his physical talents are only a small part of his success. Landry possesses outstanding character. There has never a been a time, whether it was in my Chemistry class or on the baseball field, that a negative action or motive came about. Landry has shown the characteristic of doing “what is right”. In my 33 years of coaching and in education, Landry rates at the top in terms of character. This characteristic has given me the desire to trust him in the numerous situations we have been involved together. During a typical baseball practice, a coach must organize number of players in a sizeable field space. However, Landry was one individual that I never had a concern of whether he was accomplishing the stated objective for the given practice drill. Landry was always on task and motivated to become the best he could become.

In Chemistry, we would often have group labs or discussions. Landry not only would be on task but would often lead the groups to help accomplish the stated goal. His commitment to achieve excellence often pushed others to accomplish the group goal.

Landry is the type of player/student/person that I believe will get better with time. He is never satisfied and is always looking to get better. To him, success is an ongoing mission. I would highly recommend Landry for endeavor that he may undertake.
