PERSONAL STATEMENT
Sport is one of the biggest parts of my life and has taught me what it is meant to be part of a team and to work together to do our best while developing as an individual. I have been evolved with sport since i was learning to walk, i had tried a variety of sports and have met some of my best friends through sport, and travelling overseas has given me amazing memories i am grateful to have experienced. The last 2 years i have really focused on playing baseball at the highest level possible for as long as i can. Once i am finished with baseball i hope to be a Doctor or surgeon and hopefully work to help people and athletes to prolong their careers.

This is a reference letter for Kyle Morrison

I have personally played with, and coached Kyle for the past 3 years (playing along side him in senior competition and coaching his under 18 junior team).

Kyle is a gifted athlete and in the past two years is rapidly accelerating as a player on all levels. He is an extremely versatile player and I believe he will be able to achieve great things in a wide range of roles within a college baseball team.

Some of his physical attributes are:

· 6’3 height
· Athletic frame with good range
· Fast runner
· Very strong throwing arm (upper 80’s)
· Advanced hand eye coordination (excellent contact hitter)

Kyle is and has been developing as a pitcher throughout the duration of my time knowing him (3 years). He has a very easy, repeatable delivery with a consistent release point and textbook mechanics. He is often overpowering with his close and fast delivery but he also uses a very sharp 12-6 curveball to keep hitters off balance. Given the correct training and weights program I imagine Kyle will easily tip over the 90 MPH mark consistently. Kyle has represented his state repeatedly throughout the different age groups and has pitched with great success at this level. He will most likely throw in Australia’s national competition (ABL) at some point in the near future.

Kyle is also a passionate infielder. As naturally gifted as he is as a pitcher, it seems playing in the infield is where his heart lies. Once again Kyle has represented his state in the infield with great success. I have personally noted Kyle’s improvements over the last 2 years in this position. His physical attributes make him perfect in an infield position. He has a great deal of range, good hand eye and the arm to back it up. Kyle is a very strong contact hitter and has good instincts and pace on the base paths. He on occasion is able to hit the ball out of the park, but only when he really gets a hold of a pitch. I think Kyle’s biggest area for improvement both as a pitcher and infielder/hitter are in his strength and conditioning. I have no doubt that once he is in a well-structured program he will be able to increase his velocity and hit for greater power.

All in all, having played and coached Kyle for the previous 2 seasons, it is clear to the Newport Baseball Club that he is destined to further his baseball beyond Australia. Awarded the junior MVP for the under 18’s both years I have coached him. He also has won the junior batting title, senior batting title and senior MVP during the last two seasons at Newport. Kyle’s attitude towards the game has come leaps and bounds since I first met him and he is now the most enthusiastic and hard working player that I coach, which has been reflected in his game. I believe he would be a great addition to any team.

Feel free to contact me with any further questions,

Kind Regards,

Sam Thompson

Recommendation: LETTER OF REFERENCE FOR KYLE MORRISON

To whom it may concern,
This is a letter of reference for Kyle Morrison. Though he may not have known this, I have been aware of Kyle as a player for two seasons as an opposition assistant coach and now this season as a team mate and assistant coach with his team.
In this time, I have known Kyle to be a gifted athlete who has continued to grow on all levels as a player.
Kyles physical attributes are:
-Above average height (6’3” or 195cm)
-Rangy, lean, athletic frame.
-Good leg speed
-Excellent throwing arm
-above average hand/eye coordination.
It is my opinion Kyle will develop into an elite pitcher. Has an easy, repeatable delivery. Flexible. Nice coordination. Consistent release point. Currently throwing mid to high 80’s fastball with late life. With strength & conditioning and physical maturity I would easily project a fastball in the low to mid 90’s. He also has a plus breaking ball (slider/curve) tight rotation, good depth and late break. I would expect he will pitch in our National League within the next two to three years.
Given Kyles athleticism and mobility for a big frame, he can and does play in the middle infield, more at short stop. Though for obvious physical reasons, going forward I would see an obvious move to corner infield or outfield.
Playing 1B/3B/OF when he’s not pitching is a possibility as he has sound swing mechanics and above average hand/eye coordination. With good speed, runs the bases well and has good instincts on the base paths.
What Kyle presents with physically has been a nice progression through the junior ranks and has been in the elite state junior programs since age 14. I expect his development to continue on this same path for many years to come.

Kyle has aspirations of studying to earn a degree in Physiotherapy. This is obviously a science based course requiring top marks in high school to be accepted. Currently Kyle exceeds these academic standards as an “A” student.

All in all, having now worked up close with Kyle and gotten to know him on a personal as well as playing level, he has displayed himself to be a delightful, positive, happy, cheerful, emotionally mature friend and team mate. I would have absolutely no hesitation in referring Kyle as a student athlete, as I feel he would be an enormous asset to any College/University baseball program.
Please feel free to phone or email me with regards to Kyle at any time.

Warm regards,

Justin Charles
