PERSONAL STATEMENT
Being a student athlete is very important to me. I love to challenge myself and compete, and more importantly, I like doing so as part of a team. Being part of a team in athletics has lasting practical value in real life and provides a good balance to my academic education.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Describe Your Playing Style?: My playing style is physical. I’m not the fastest, not the strongest, not the tallest, but I’m willing to get dirty, dive for loose balls, and be more physical than my opponent. I’ve always enjoyed the physical nature of sports and it’s the one area where I have a competitive advantage.
Personal Statement: Being a student athlete is very important to me. I love to challenge myself and compete, and more importantly, I like doing so as part of a team. Being part of a team in athletics has lasting practical value in real life and provides a good balance to my academic education.
Favorite Athlete(s) and why?: I use to swim competitively and so my favorite athletes have usually been swimmers. Just about anyone on the US National Swim Team comes to mind – to be so dedicated and so single minded focus on being the best in your sport in events that are only competed at that level every 4 years is amazing. To balance that out, my other favorite athletes are football players – it’s very much a family tradition in our house to watch NFL games on the weekends – without calling out any one player, I’m more inspired how a diverse group of 11 individuals compete collectively for a team goal, literally grinding it out one yard at a time.
Other activites and interests: Beyond lacrosse, I have many interest outside of school, specifically Model UN, Science Olympiad, and Academic League. I’ve been doing Model UN since the 6th grade and have had the opportunity to visit the United Nations in New York and debate with other schools from around the world. This past year, I teamed up with a good friend for Science Olympiad – we entered the Wind Power category and after testing numerous wind blades, developed a blade that placed us in 7th place out of 120 teams from across San Diego. As a member of the Academic League team we compete against other high schools in a moderated question and answer style format across a wide range of subjects. I also just completed my JV basketball season and enjoy cross fit training. Outside of that, I enjoy listening to music and spending time with family and friends.
Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: The biggest influence on my sports career to date has been my parents – the are both so supportive. They’re not the ones you hear yelling on the sidelines, in fact, they are both very low key. Their support comes in the form of making sure I’m always prepared for the challenge ahead and helping me establish those challenges in the first place. Secondly, my coaches on my club team, West Coast Starz, have been amazing and so encouraging in my lacrosse career.
About Me: I am currently a freshman at the Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, CA. I’ve been playing lacrosse for several years and for the last couple years I’ve had the privilege to play for my club team, West Coast Starz. I have a strong work ethic in both academics and athletics. I have a 3.5+ GPA and am involved in numerous school activates beyond sports, such as Model UN, Science Olympiad, and Academic League. This past winter, I also played JV basketball and will be playing varsity lacrosse in the spring. I am looking for a college with a strong academic program as well as a competitive athletic program. My goal is to play college lacrosse as I pursue my undergraduate degree.
