Title: Head Coach
Organization / School: Casteel HS
Recommendation: In a short amount of time I’ve been very impressed with Jadin as a baseball player. He has many strengths and works on his weaknesses with passion. He’s a plus defender and has a knack for finding the ball. He can play any infield position and possesses the instincts to play anywhere on the field. When the game speeds up, he’s able to slow it down and make the correct play or decision. Offensively, he’s a player who understands the game and will be able to execute the situation. His baseball IQ is very good and it’s due to the desire to learn all the time. He’s a hustle player and plays with a as ton of competitiveness. He’s a player any coach or teammate would love to have.

Recommendation: This letter is a letter of recommendation Jadin Grannis, current Junior (class of 2021) student-athlete at Casteel High School in Chandler, Arizona. Jadin currently has a 3.5 grade point average and was a starting infielder at Casteel as a junior. He has also competed with the Angels Amateur Baseball Academy and played in some of the top tournaments against high level competition.

My name is Joseph Ponce and I am the Head Varsity Baseball Coach and Physical Education Teacher at Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Arizona. I have been teaching at the high school level for nearly 6 years teaching Physical Education and Health. I’ve coached high school baseball for 10 years both in Arizona as well as California. Along with coaching interscholastic high school baseball, I am also in my 3rd year coaching for the Angels Amateur Baseball Academy in Tempe, Arizona working exclusively with the class of 2021. In the last decade coaching and teaching I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of student athletes. I’ve had over a dozen of my former student-athletes go onto successful careers as student-athletes at the collegiate level.

I have known Jadin for over one year, and am fortunate to be able to continue to coach him this summer as well as a part of the Angels Amateur Academy. In the summer of 2019, Jadin played up two age groups and competed with athletes from the class of 2019 as part of the Angels Academy. Due to his athleticism and versatility he was able to be a contributing factor on a team consisting mainly of players who were college bound. In the fall of 2019, Jadin returned to my Angels team and was a leader amongst his peers. In the fall, Jadin competed against collegiate level competition with our club team and played in the “AZ Fall Classic” which features some of the top players/teams from around the United States, and is well attended by college scouts year in and year out. In the fall, Jadin played 4 different positions for us. His knowledge of the game allows him to compete at 3B, SS and 2B as well as transition to the outfield when needed. His arm strength, agility and range allows him to play at each of these aforementioned positions. Jadin can also pitch as well and has the competitive mindset to be able to get outs and challenge hitters. As a hitter, Jadin can bat anywhere in the lineup and understand the approach needed to not only get on base, but also help his team. He has a solid gap-to-gap approach with the ability to hit for power. His speed on the bases and knowledge of proper base running also makes him a threat on the base paths.

Jadin is also a tremendous student and carries a 3.5 grade point average with a rigorous course load at his high school. His attention to detail in his school work, training program and improving daily in all aspects of the game of baseball are what sets him apart from many of his peers in the class of 2021. I firmly believe Jadin can contribute as a student-athlete at the college level and will be an asset to any team willing to give him the opportunity. If you have any other questions about Jadin Grannis’ ability as a baseball player please feel free to contact me.
