Recommendation: To whom it may concern,

I have been involved with Ewan over the past 3 years but following Ewan for 5 years now through his junior baseball. Ewan jumped on my radar as a young player with some pop in his bat and solid potential.

Over the past 5 years I have seen Ewan continue his development and was lucky enough to work with Ewan with the Australian Roos World Boys team in 2017 and also this past year with the NSW U16 Team with his hitting. Ewan has always been the guy to come through in the big occasions and that didn’t change during the World Boys Tournament against International teams and in the Australian National Championships in January 2018.

Ewan possesses great hands with the ability to drive the ball into gaps with power and maintain a great average. I know Ewan has also been working hard on his overall game including the work he has been doing with 2 ex MLB players.

As a former Minor League player, scout of over 25 years and a coach of Ewan’s, I have no hesitation in urging Ewan to pursue his dreams with baseball and I continue to watch Ewan as a scout progress and track his progress.

Recommendation: To Collegiate Baseball Recruitment Staff,

My Name is Shane Elvy and I have been Ewan Ney’s Senior League All Stars head coach this year. I am also an assistant coach for the Baseball New South Wales (State Level) High Performance program for which Ewan has been an invited participant for the last 2 years.

When I first met Ewan as a 10 year old playing Little League, it was obvious he had several raw tools, especially on the offensive side, at a young age. He was always an athletic, tall and strong athlete that is easy to coach, has good game awareness and is a positive influence in the team environment.

Ewans strongest attributes continue to be his work ethic on developing his baseball tools both in hitting and particularly the leaps he has made defensively as a corner infielder. Ground ball technique and his drop step have improved markedly and is testament to the amount of work he puts in on his development.

I would highly recommend that you consider recruiting Ewan Ney as a RH power hitting first baseman with the relief ability on the mound. His work ethic and leadership qualities would be an asset to your college program.

Recommendation: Ewan Ney is a strong athletic baseballer. His Bat is his main calling card, where he displays the ability to hit for average and power. With a very projectable frame his gap to gap power could really develop into a plus tool. While most comfortable on the corners Ewan has more than enough athletic ability to be a threat on the bases.

Ewan’s work ethic is outstanding, always one of the first at practices and last to leave. He has worked over the last year to improve his arm strength and foot speed. As a team mate you will struggle to find better as Ewan buys into the team first approach.

In the field Ewan is most comfortable at first base who he has soft hands and plus range. His strong arm allows him to make the required throws. In the outfield he takes sound routes to the ball and makes strong accurate throws.
