PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a 6'5" 1B/LHP/OF at Mission Viejo High School, under the direction of Head Coach Chris Ashbach. My goal is to successfully play college baseball while studying for a Computer Science degree. I have been working hard to improve all aspects of my game during this off-season. I take pride in my academics and understand that I must work hard in the classroom, just as much as on the field.

Recommendation: Dear Coach,

My name is Chris Ashbach. For the Past 23 years I have been the Head Baseball Coach at Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California. Many good baseball players have gone on from Mission Viejo High School to have successful collegiate and professional careers. A majority of those players were "can't miss" prospects. The last decade our program has won 4 South Coast /Sea View League Championships and 2 California Interscholastic Federation Championships.

The purpose of this letter is to recommend to you a player whose true talents are only beginning to surface. His name is Cade McClelland. I fear he will be overlooked by Division I recruiters because of the recent COVID-19 Pandemic and inability for college coaches to hit the recruiting trail. However, he has an extremely strong and proficient left-handed bat that has present power with an incredibly high bat to ball ratio. He stands 6’5” and possesses a fluid swing that he easily gets to the zone against plus velocity. As a Junior, Cade started the season strong with a slash line of .294/.400/.588 through 6 games. He single-handedly won a game for us against Santa Fe with a game tying homer in the 6th followed by a walk off hit in the 7th. Cade is an extremely unselfish player that can skill when asked and is willing to do anything to help his team win. Cade’s work ethic is also beyond reproach. He commands respect by his diligence and attention to detail. The last three years I have seen Cade mature physically and mentally as a player, and look forward to writing his name in the lineup every day in 2021.

There is no question in my mind that Cade McClelland can play Division I baseball and excel in the university classroom as well. I hope you will afford him the opportunity. If you have any questions, or would like a schedule of games, please call me at (949) 291-5515 or (949) 837-7722 ext. 5806.

Sincerely,

Chris Ashbach
