We would like to congratulate Connor Markl on his commitment to Grand Canyon University. Here are Connor’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as an Antelope!
1. Share your recruiting story and status I started reaching out to college coaches at the beginning of my junior year. Phone calls with some coaches began shortly after, but I did not see the results I was hoping for right away. To be very honest, the process was both exciting and stressful. Finding the best place for me athletically and academically was a huge decision and something I took very seriously. My goal was to find a place where I could succeed academically, as a baseball player, and as a person. There were a lot of sleepless nights and days where I was not sure what I was going to do. Staying calm and evaluating all of my options helped make my decision easier. I looked to my family, friends, and coaches for any help I could get, and they were a big help in my decision. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I made the decision to continue my baseball and academic career at Grand Canyon University. The baseball program, coaches, and academics were just a few reasons why I chose this school. Their progression over the past few years and their overall performance make them a solid contender for conference champions for years to come. I want to be a part of that. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? Andrew was a major help for me and my family during my process. I called him for advice and questions I had regarding the schools I was interested in. His answers helped and gave me clarity regarding what I might be looking for in schools and baseball programs. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? The advice I would give is to not worry about what others are doing and to focus solely on yourself and what you can control. Worrying about others will add unnecessary stress in this already difficult process. This process happens once in a lifetime and enjoy it while it lasts. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I am ecstatic to begin the next chapter in my athletic and academic career. I am ready to improve myself on and off the field and to help GCU in any way I can. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? (Includes, Athletic scholarships, Academic scholarships, & financial aid) Between the athletic and academic scholarship, my family will be paying very little for my college education. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would recommend Sportsforce to others because of their hands on approach and their desire to help all their athletes achieve their goals of playing college baseball.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball:  We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Ethan Babcock-Barrie on his commitment to Montana State University, Billings. Here are Ethan’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Yellowjacket!
1. Share your recruiting story and status I verbally committed to Montana State University Billings (MSUB) on Nov 19th and I signed my NLI on Dec 2nd.  The SF process started out a bit cumbersome with trying to choose my target list.  That was a hard process since I wasn’t an athlete that had a specific school, region or degree in mind.  In hindsight, I should have put more Division 2 schools. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? Montana State University Billings. I chose this school because I felt the team had good team chemistry. They also have a very competitive program that will push me and make me a better player and person. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? The biggest help for me was the advice of how to respond to the coaches via email and in person. I also greatly valued the mass emails and how they were able to provide me with information on who opened and clicked on the link. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? I would suggest taking the time in making your target list. I thought of this list as more of a “concrete document”, when it should have been more of a “moving target”. Meaning, I wish I evaluated my coaches’ responses and updated my list 2-3 times throughout the process. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I can’t wait!! I’m so excited that I get the opportunity to extend my baseball career to the collegiate level and to a team that is really good. My recruiting trip was awesome! 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? (Includes, Athletic scholarships, Academic scholarships, & financial aid) With the WUE pricing and athletic scholarship, it was 46%.  I won’t know if I was able to qualify for additional academic scholarships until my FAFSA is fully processed. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? Yes. It was a great guide while going through this process. It was really nice to have the support of SF and to have another person/team out there advocating for me. I know SF is respected in the athletics world. From a parent’s point of view, I would recommend that the parents completed their FAFSA as soon as it opens (October 1st). That way, the parents can get a better snapshot of the whole cost of college. Some of the schools will process the application sooner than others so you might not know the exact, but you can at least get an idea. Another recommendation is to be patient and to honor the process. It takes time and there are certain time periods in the process that had more response. The biggest tournament was the tournament in October in Arizona. Be prepared for the big tournament and give it your all right off the bat. Don’t hold back!   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball:  We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision. We would like to congratulate Derek Williams on his commitment to George Fox University. Here are Derek’s recruiting story and interview after his commitment. Good luck as a Bruin!
1. Share your recruiting story and status My recruiting process was definitely a lengthy one. Ever since the summer of my sophomore year, I felt I was doing something college-related like sending emails to coaches or playing in front of them in showcases. It was getting stressful seeing my friends/teammates commit so early, but I kept working and trusting in God’s plan for me. One thing I knew I could control was my work ethic and that’s what I believe got me to where I am today. Finally, during my senior year, I found the college that was a great fit for me.  I attended George Fox University on a visit and committed a few days after that. 2. What school are you going to, and why did you choose them? I’ll be attending George Fox University next year. I chose George Fox because of the amazing coaching staff and the culture George Fox had to offer. It also met all of the things I was looking for in a college (smaller university on the west coast, great baseball school, and a reputable Kinesiology program. 3. How did SportsForce help in the process? SportsForce was a huge help throughout the process because they were getting me in contact with a variety of coaches from all NCAA divisions. The emails were a great start from SportsForce because that’s what initiated the conversation with different coaches. 4. What advice would you give to other players and parents with the recruiting process? Some advice that I’d give to other players and parents is to start contacting colleges you’re interested in attending early.  It’s also very important to have a big target list of schools and to be realistic in the type of player you are. 5. How excited are you on your future in college? I’m really excited to attend a university that values education and athletics.  I also can’t wait to continue my baseball career at George Fox University. 6. How much money do you estimate your family saving in college expenses over the entirety of your college career? (Includes, Athletic scholarships, Academic scholarships, & financial aid) I estimate my family will be saving over $75,000 from all of my scholarships that George Fox University is offering. 7. Would you recommend SportsForce to any other student-athletes? Why? I would recommend SportsForce to any other student-athlete because they do a great job of getting you in contact with the schools of your choice! They’re also very good at contacting you frequently through emails or phone calls with your advisor.  The SportsForce team was very helpful and gave me and my family a lot of individual attention.   Our Mission at SportsForce Baseball:  We are on a mission to help our select number of qualified and evaluated players maximize their recruiting offers and make the best college decision.
