Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: My biggest influence on my sports career is definitely my coach, Noah Fink. Although many people have influenced my athletic career, Coach Fink stands out for a few reasons. He is very honest. I love people that are honest and will tell you the truth even if it hurts to hear because that is how you improve. I distinctly remember Coach Fink telling me that my stick skills were terrible, so that day I started hitting the wall. I now go throw against the wall for an hour every day, and I believe that that's really helped me. another reason Coach Fink has influenced me is through his encouragement. Even when Coach Fink is being brutally honest with you, he never wants you to quit. He always keeps our teams, and my morale high and that's very important.
About Me: I have not been playing lacrosse for very long. Up until ninth grade, football has been my primary sport. My first year playing lacrosse was for Team Texas, a club team. Apparently it is a select team, so I have no idea how I was put on it. That season, I was surrounded by many superior lacrosse players. I became very frustrated both from my lack of playing time and not performing very well compared to the others on the team. However, there is no doubt that I improved a lot during that season. The frustration I had drove me to work harder and set goals. My next season was for Westlake Youth Lacrosse. I played on the 8th grade B-team. Even though it was just my second season, no one seemed to notice. I earned a starting spot and I was excited for the season. Sadly, a week or two before my first game, I had a tiny fracture in my finger from football. I had to miss almost the entire season. The following year was my first year that I took lacrosse very seriously. I discovered that football wasn't the sport for me, and I worked endlessly leading up to lacrosse season. I secured a spot on the varsity team despite me being a freshman, and it being only my third (or second depending on if you count the season were I was injured) season playing the sport. I kept working, and steadily my playing time grew. To help me get experience, my coach also let me play in the JV games a little. I made the most of these opportunities and ended up earning the MVP award for the JV team.
