Recommendation: I am writing this letter of recommendation of behalf of Rick Ortiz of Putnam Valley High
School. Rick is a talented multiple sport athlete with a 3.4 GPA, which shows his dedication to
both academics and athletics. His eagerness to learn and improve as a player is a great attribute
to any program and something that cannot be coached.


I am a coach at Lincoln High School. I have seen numerous athletes come through my
school with great talent including Nyan Boateng (Florida Gators), Lansford Watson (Maryland
Terrapins), and Ishaq Williams (Notre Dame). My outlook on Rick is that he possesses raw talent
and is a natural football player. He has great speed and hands. In my opinion, his best quality
on the field is his ability to get open and make defenders miss. He is terrific in the open field
in terms of angles and knowing when to cut. Defensively, he is a ball hawk with a nose for the
football. He often gets to the football at its highest point. He is also a good open field tackler. I
was very impressed with this young man his 2011 Season


Rick Ortiz would be a quality addition for any program. This young man has a bright
future ahead of him not because of his athletic ability but also because of his determination and
dedication to what he does.

Rick Ortiz is one of the best DB/WR I've coached in the past 20-yrs. A special Athelete.

First of all he is a fine young man, Great Person, community oriented. Football wise, he is Multifaceted, can play Offense-Defense Special Teams, QB if needed.

He plays the game with reckless abandon. Has Amazing hands, sub 4.5 40 yd Speed,
& Has a nose for the football,leading the State in INTs & wouldn't surprise me if he's among the leaders in INTs in
college. He's tops in NY State right now his senior year. He is a Winner.
He is just starting to develop physically, so there is a huge upside potential in his game.
