PERSONAL STATEMENT
2020- Concordia University - Portland: February 10th we were informed that Concordia University – Portland would cease operations at the end of the Spring 2020 semester. I was just entering my sophomore season and the starting 2nd baseman, before our season was cancelled due to the Corona Virus. We played 12 exhibition games and were able to play 8 league games. I believe that I was very well prepared for this season; I’ve worked extremely hard in the weight room and on the field. Our first series against UCSD, I hit 2 doubles and our second series against UBC (Vancouver) I hit a homerun. I also was voted Baseball Rookie of the year my freshman season and I know that this was going to be a breakout year for me. I’m on the Dean’s List here at CU-Portland and I am accustomed to balancing a rigorous academic and athletic schedule. As the closure was completely unexpected, I was able to obtain videos of multiple plays and at bats to showcase my abilities and fundamentals. This YouTube video is linked here in my profile. My coaches can attest to my leadership, work ethic and determination to succeed. 2018 -Baseball has been a part of life for the past 12 years. My plan is to play at the collegiate level. I'm dedicated to the game of baseball and take great pride in pushing myself to achieve my goals. I enjoy the commitment that it takes to become a better player, and I believe that starts by being a leader on the field and in the weight room. As a shortstop I enjoy taking charge of the field and being the guy the team turns to for leadership in key situations. I view myself as a high IQ player, with a very instinctive approach to the game. I'm consistently working on my skills, and looking for ways to get better mentally and physically. I try to give myself an advantage when I play, such as knowing the tendencies for all the hitters in our league. I am a hustle player, always looking for the next possible play, and I think that mentality is infectious to how a team plays as one. A team is built by the commitment from each player to perform individually with the teams success in mind. I am highly motivated both in the classroom and on the field. I am looking for a baseball program that will blend well with my academic pursuits. I'm a strong student who is accustomed to balancing a rigorous academic and athletic environment because of my high school and baseball program.
