PERSONAL STATEMENT
I believe that sticking to my guns and remaining true to my beliefs, through thick and thin, brings out the best in me. I believe life is a journey. If I can observe and learn from other people's successes and failures, that will help me in my own life and my decision making. I often attempt to do unto others what I would have them do to me. I understand my actions have consequences so it is important to me to make good decisions.

Recommendation: To whom it may concern,

Samuel Ortega is a varsity basketball player at Scottsdale Christian Academy where I have been the varsity basketball coach for 30 years. Samuel is a small forward, about 6'-4" with a very athletic, angular body. As a Junior, Samuel showed rapid development and averaged around 12.2 points per game in a balanced offensive attack. Samuel is a special and gifted scorer. He is both a shooter and a shot maker. Clearly, he can play the 2 guard at the collegiate level. Samuel may be capable of playing effectively at the NCAA D-I mid-major level; however, based on 30 years of producing college players it is my belief that Samuel would be a very effective Division II player and an outstanding Division III or NAIA player.

I am well aware that college coaches get many letters from high school coaches and AAU coaches promoting players. Our program at Scottsdale Christian Academy has produced 25 college players, including 6 Division I players, in my 30 years. It is based on this experience that I confidently tell you Samuel will be an outstanding small college guard and has an outside chance of being effective at certain mid-major D1 schools.

Currently Samuel is putting in much time and effective work on his game. He is shooting daily on the gun, working with trainers and playing in our high school's summer league. I would be glad to update you on his progress as the summer goes on. Last night, in our first summer league game, Samuel scored 34 points against a quality team. This shows his rapid development from last season.

You can follow Samuel by staying in contact with me or his parents, who will provide you with contact information, and through a recruitment agency they have chosen. Film of junior year games is available on HUDL.

I urge you to add Samuel Ortega to your list of players to watch.

Sincerely,
Bob Fredericks
