My passion for baseball comes from a very young age. That's because my family has supported me all the way. When I take the mound, I feel confident and determined, and love to compete. Baseball is in my blood and I will continue to play in college and beyond!

For the past three years I have had the pleasure of coaching Michael Pilato at Palos Verdes high school. He is a quite person that absolutely transforms when he gets on the mound. With the ball in his hand he's a competitor that can throw four pitches for strikes in any count. His fastball is in the low 80s with sink and his off speeds have good spread with late movement. He needs to fill out physically, but good thing is he's willing to put in the work. He's a player that leads by example, makes others around him better, and competes like no other on the mound. He will be a starter for me next spring.

I have known Micheal Pilato since he was a little leaguer. He has always been coachable and has the desire to become a better player. It has been a pleasure coaching him this past year at Palos Verdes high school and look forward to his future development. His work ethic and passion for the game is what sets him apart from other players. He is a fine young man and member of the community. When he steps between the lines the competitor and bulldog mentality he possesses comes out and he's not gonna let you beat him. Micheal thrives on being in tight stressful situations showing his ability to throw all four pitches for strikes at any time. His fastball has good late movement and sink. His off speed pitches all have good depth and late movement keeping hitters off balance. His fastball sits in the low 80's, and with room to get bigger and stronger physically he will increase his velocity. He will be committed to working hard all summer to get himself stronger. His competitiveness and work ethic rub off on his teammates showing his ability to be a leader. Micheal will continue to be a key component to the program.

Recommendation: Michael Pilato is a true competitor. He has three pitches (FB, SL, CH) that he throws for strikes and trusts all three. He can throw any of them in any count. He locates his pitches well and keeps hitters off balance. Michael isn't the typical Division 1 player that will light up a radar gun, but more of the Greg Maddux type that will move the ball in and out and keep hitters on their heels. He does a very good job at holding runners, so it gives his catcher a chance to throw someone out. I think that the biggest attribute that Michael brings when he's pitching is that he doesn't let the things happening behind him, good, bad or indifferent, affect that way he attacks hitters. I have seen this young man grow over the past several years and he is a sponge in terms of learning new things. He will help any pitching staff and compete with what he has, even if its not on a full tank. His willingness to learn and better himself as a man and as a baseball player will help him continue to grow and prosper in this game and in life.
