Recommendation: | To whom it may concern, It is my pleasure to write this letter as a recommendation for Josh Franks, a 2020 Graduate and student athlete, with a primary sport focus of Baseball at San Marin High School. Josh was an integral part of, and performed very well as a sophomore on our 2018 North Coast Section Championship baseball team at San Marin. Josh also plays football at San Marin and has shown great leadership and outstanding athletic ability in both sports. I have been fortunate to coach a few great baseball players in my 13 years at San Marin, and Josh is amongst that category of a future prospect of baseball at the next level. He is a true five tool baseball player showing the ability to play very well in hitting for average, hitting for power, with great speed, great outfield ability, above average arm strength, and knowledge of the game. We have been fortunate to watch him develop and grow in the program as an outstanding player and currently a great leader. We are excited for the upcoming and future seasons with him on our team. Even with his outstanding talents, he still continues to work hard in the classroom, weight room, as well as on the field. The sky is the limit for this young student athlete with a bright future as he continues his great work ethic. Recommendation: | 2/27/19 Re: Josh Franks To Whom It May Concern, It is with great pride that I am able to write this letter on behalf of Josh Franks, San Marin High School Student-Athlete (class of 2020). I have had the great fortune of getting to know Josh over the last 3 years in several settings. First, I was able to interact with Josh when he was my student in Health class as a high school freshman. During my semester as his teacher, I found Josh to be an open-minded critical thinker. He would consistently ask insightful questions based on lecture topics throughout the curriculum and displayed excellent study habits and academic prowess. Second, I was able to work with Josh as his football coach. At the tail end of his sophomore season, he was added to the varsity roster for the team’s playoff run and ended up earning a starting position in the defensive backfield. He was able to do this by demonstrating a high degree of curiosity and coachability. He continued to show these traits throughout his Junior season on the varsity roster. Third, I have had the great joy of watching Josh play Baseball from a fan’s perspective. His approach to the game is enthusiastic and analytical. It is always a pleasure to see the way he respects the game, his teammates, and his opponents. I feel that Josh is the rare student-athlete that understands that he possesses a high degree of given talent, but is not content to simply be talented. Josh has a level-headed but passionate desire to continually learn and improve as a young man. It is this combination of his natural talents and his eager-to-learn mindset that makes me feel that Josh would be a tremendous addition as a student-athlete to any campus or program. Cory P. Recommendation: | March 4, 2019 To whom it may concern: It is with great pleasure that I write a letter of recommendation for Josh Franks. Josh exemplifies all the qualities and intangibles that any future college coach looks for in an individual. He not only excels as an athlete, he also excels in the classroom. I have watch Josh develop as one of the top athletes in Marin County since he was 8 years old. Currently I am his Varsity football coach. I have had the distinct advantage to work with student athletes for the past 12 years at San Marin High School. During this time you could always tell the individuals who display those intangibles to be successful: The passion to work hard, set goals and commitment to his team. These are the qualities I see in Josh and when you meet him, you will understand why he will make a tremendous asset to any college or team. It is without hesitation I recommend Josh to any college of his choosing. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Recommendation: | To whom it may concern, I am happy to write this letter of recommendation for Josh Franks. I have had the privilege to coach and watch Josh grow as a student and athlete the past three years at San Marin High School. He truly matches the definition of a student athlete with his success in multiple sports as well as maintaining over a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. As a person, Josh has a quiet but confident demeanor. He is an intense competitor who works hard to master his skill sets. As a teammate, he is looked up to by his peers because of his athletic abilities and talent to lead by example. As a coach he is exactly what you look for in a player: talented, competitive, hardworking, and coachable. In addition to his successful character traits, Josh has the body and skill sets that give him the rare opportunity to compete against the toughest competition at any level. It is rare to describe a player as a "5 tool," but Josh fits the saying. He has pure hitting power to all sides of the field, speed that steals bases and covers large parts of the outfield, and a powerful arm to catch aggressive baserunners. I know that Josh will be a great addition and valuable asset to any baseball team, school, or coach that he plays for. Best, Mike McIntosh Head JV Coach San Marin H.S.
