PERSONAL INFORMATION

Describe Your Playing Style?: Jake has played this position, full time, since he was 9 years old. Mentally and physically, very tough; He knows how to win and lose with class
Jake is a gamer, and has never been a good showcase player. To watch him at a combine or simulated game, you may not be impressed; You really need to see him play a live game.
At the plate Jake is a very disciplined hitter, a good situational hitter, who normally hits line drives to all fields, can also hit for power. Short quick swing, good torque, gets foot down early. Gets walked a lot, high OBP.
Defense is most important to Jake, He would rather throw out a runner than hit a home run. Amazing at blocking and receiving, and calls a great game. Dominates at stopping the running game, throws out 60% - 75% of runners.

Favorite Athlete(s) and why?: My favorite athletes are Josh Hamilton, Andrew McCutchen, Buster Posey, Ian Kinsler, Darin Erstad, and Tim Tebow.
Other activites and interests: I love playing baseball, going to the movies, working in the cage, swimming, skeet shooting, hanging out with my family, singing and dancing.
Who's been the biggest influence on my sports career and why?: My whole family for sure and the Angels. I watched every game the angels played, and loved watching them win the world series in 2002. I learned to play by watching and copying the players on the Angels, and my entire family has helped and supported me in baseball. Playing catch, pitching to me, hitting me ground balls and pop-ups, and filming every game.
About Me: I am the youngest of 4 kids, I have 3 sisters. My mom and sisters all barrel raced, so I started riding horses before I could walk, I started Junior Rodeo when I was 4 years old. Riding my pony and Dummy Roping was all I wanted to do. When I learned to play baseball I was 6 years old, when I was 7 I played on my first Pony Baseball team the NBC Pinto Red Sox. My first coach was Ken Dunnigan. From then on I knew all I want to do is play baseball.
I still work hard everyday, and look forward to each and every game I play.
I hit my first grand slam when I was 7 years old, but as big as I am, I am not a power hitter right now. I have a lot of power, but I don't think a player should go up first pitch and try to hit a home run. I like to make a pitcher work, it is a mental battle that I hate to lose, I do lose the battle sometimes but I know that pitcher had to work hard to get me out. I love hitting a 2 strike line drive stand-up double to the RCF wall, awesome. I know I am not an easy out and that is my goal every at bat.
I have a very good eye and very good plate discipline so I get walked a lot.
