Recommendation: 5-foot-9, 150 RHP/INF. Dawson is far more advanced on the mound but has showed significant improvement as a position player. He shows solid infield actions and moves well defensively with a quick transfer and the ability to throw from multiple angles . At the plate, displays quick hands and balance throughout the swing. Stays inside ball while trying to work gap to gap. Dawson shows the most promise on the mound where his fastball touched 84 mph, working exclusively from the stretch. 72-73 mph curve ball was is by far one of the better pitches for him, flashing true 12-6 break with tight rotation in and below the zone. Dawson also mixes in developing 73 mph change up as a good secondary pitch, thrown with conviction and good arm speed, showing some sink/fade. Physical development will dictate future position but his presence on the mound is already showing immediate impact at an elite level.

Recommendation: It is my privilege to write this recommendation for Dawson DeHerrera. Dawson has been a member of the Sunrise Mountain High School Baseball program for the past two years and I had the privilege of coaching him this year as he pitched valuable innings on the varsity team. Dawson is currently a sophomore with a ton of upside and potential.

Dawson is an extremely hard worker who loves baseball. It is a passion of his and he is always looking to improve his game. He is also a great teammate who celebrates in other teammates successes. He understands that baseball is a team sport and will do whatever is necessary to help the team succeed.

Dawson is a middle infielder who has good range and hands. His ability to quickly get to ground balls and effectively handle them allows him to constantly be in a good position to make accurate throws. Although Dawson has the arm strength to play any infield position, he does not rely on that gift to get the ball across the infield. He works hard with his feet to get to the ball quickly to make an easy throw. Dawson has quick, sure hands that allows him to turn double plays with ease.

Offensively, Dawson hits for average and provides quality at bats. Dawson is developing power to the gaps, but already possess an approach that results in a lot of solid contact. As he grows older and stronger, he should develop into a gap to gap hitter.

Pitching is where Dawson has shined. This past year as a sophomore, he earned his way into our starting rotation. Dawson has command of all three of his pitches, a fastball, curveball, and changeup. His curveball is very deceptive as it has a sharp break to it and compliments if his fastball. Dawson's size will not catch your eye, but the velocity on his fastball is exceptional considering how big he is. He is mechanically sound and does a great job incorporating his legs in his delivery. As Dawson matures and gains strength, he should only continue to improve. Dawson has the ability to become a dominate pitcher who can carry a team.

I strongly believe that Dawson will be a valuable asset to any program. His passion, work ethic, and talent will translate well at the next level. He is definitely a player who I would recommend any coach to get an eye on because as he grows and matures, he will only improve.
